For my feature writing class, we had this take-home midterm assignment. We had to go to the mall, or some busy, public place and write about what we saw.
My friend Amy and I went to the Cherry Creek Mall, where the typical store is something like Louis Vitton, and observed the children on a massive breakfast style playground they have set up for kids in the middle of the mall.
I started watching a group of toddlers climb all over the giant scrambled eggs. Many of them toppled over each other to get to the top of the yolk and stared in shock as they jumped up and down and nothing would happen.
There was a small, curious looking little Asian girl, who quickly got bored with the eggs and decided to run away. She dashed out of the exit and started running away. I watched the parents, and for awhile, no one seemed to follow her. I thought for a moment she would escape, until finally her dad ran after her. She attempted it again 10 minutes later, and yet again, failed.
I drew a diagram of how she ran, but unfortunately my scanner isn't working, so I'll post it another time.
